Accommodation:- The Karoo Lodge,
a luxurious lodge within the Samara Private Game Reserve, boasts
world class Eastern Cape accommodation in 3 Lodge Suites set in
the main lodge building, and an additional 3
Karoo Suites located on the grounds. An opulent verandah
overlooks the majestic game reserve, where you can relax and let
the sights and sounds of Mother Nature inspire your senses. Guests
at this Eastern Cape accommodation can also relax in the comfortable
living room, at the snug bar and in the dining room. Inspiration
for the decor was drawn from the traditional colonial style of
Karoo, and the modern influences of Africa. All suites at this
Eastern Cape accommodation feature private en suite bathrooms
and are fully equipped. Spa treatments are
also available in the privacy of your suite, and an open boma,
a swimming pool and a tennis court makes for an interesting and
memorable experience at Karoo Lodge. Samara caters for families,
groups and individuals.Karoo Lodge boasts internet connection

Wildlife:- Discover the magic
of Samara, where thousands of animals roam freely in this Big
Five game Reserve. Seeking to rehabilitate the once lost magnificence
of the Eastern Cape¹s Great Karoo, the Samara dream is now a lifelong
commitment. The once absent Cape Mountain Zebra now roam the plateau
pastures once again, while the rare Blue
Crane soar in the vast skies overhead. Unparalleled and
humbling experiences await you at Samara. With four of the country’s
seven biomes, Samara’s abundant wilderness preserves a complex
and diverse ecosystem, providing habitat for over 60 mammal species.
Among more common species, such as the Kudu and Duiker, the secretive
Aardvark and the once-endangered White Rhino roam. Giraffes can
be seen peeking over the thorny Acacia canopy, while Cheetah crouch,
hidden in the grass, waiting for an opportunity to stretch their
legs and test the speed of the Hartebeest.
Access:- Samara is situated in the Malaria-free
Plains of Camdeboo, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Guests
can access Samara by car (a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from the Port
Elizabeth Airport), or via a chartered flight to our private airstrip
(45 min from the Port Elizabeth Airport).
Child Policy:- Children of all ages are welcome
at Karoo Lodge; however, children under the age of 6 may not accompany
parents on game drives unless the family has exclusive use of
the vehicle. There is also a special programme suitable for families
with young children at Karoo Lodge.
